Depending on numbers, we will be conducting basic, beginner rides, (rookie rides) in Parklands (near Nambour) with some skills training for anyone wanting to try mountain biking. We start from the Radar Hill road carpark (map) and follow the 5km novice loop (with bonus trails if you are still up for more). We travel in a group and we have frequent rest stops to catch our breath and ask questions, so it will probably take an hour. There will be hills, loose surfaces, log rollovers, fire roads and twisty singletrack.
What you need to know:
- Bring water as there are no taps there
- There are no toilets there
- Bring a mountain bike in good working order
- Bring a helmet and some eye protection
- Charge your mobile phone
- You need insurance (see below)
Also, if you have a smartphone, check out the Emergency + app provided by the Australian Government – it may help you or another in case of an incident.
Insurance is strongly suggested! We encourage riders to take advantage of the Mountain Biking Australia (MTBA) free trial program. You receive a 8-week free membership that includes nearly all of the features of a regular membership including the 24/7 personal accident and public liability insurance. More info about the MTBA free trial can be found at http://www.mtba.asn.au/membership/free-trial-membership/ . If you do not wish to obtain insurance through the MTBA then you will need to sign a waiver before riding with us – please email [email protected]angers.org before the ride to organise.
