Warburton Mountain Bike Destination Project

Warburton Mountain Bike Destination Project

Yarra Ranges Council along with Parks Victoria, Dept. Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Melbourne Water, and Vic Roads are seeking input on their upcoming Warbuton Mountain Bike project. The project will be building a trail network within the Yarra Valley which is 90km east of the Melbourne CBD.

Warburton is set to become one of Australia’s premier mountain bike destinations with planning well underway for approximately 160 kilometres of trail in the surrounding area. The project is now at the Master Planning stage which includes a detailed assessment of potential alignments and impact assessments.

Consultation with adjacent land owners has been conducted during May and June. The public are invited to contribute to this project by providing input into the trail alignment, the mix of trail grading and supporting facilities and services.

This project is being coordinated by a partnership comprising of Yarra Ranges Council, Parks Victoria, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Melbourne Water and Vic Roads.

Reminder: 2017 Annual Membership Survey

Reminder: 2017 Annual Membership Survey
The data we are getting is great! Big thanks to those who have already completed it.

Hi Folks,

So far a third of you have completed the membership survey – this is fantastic and thank you. Who’d have guessed the president has been voted the best looking committee member. HOWEVER it would be awesome if we could get everyone to complete it as then it would be truly representative. So if you haven’t filled out the survey yet, please do so before the 1st of December, 5PM (that’s 2 weeks away).

It doesn’t matter if you’re a new member or haven’t been along on a ride – your input is always appreciated.

Don’t forget there’s a random prize draw for those who completed the survey and provided their details.

If you haven’t received the survey link or have deleted the email please let us know by emailing [email protected] or contacting us through social media or in person during a ride.

Queensland Mountain Bike Strategy Survey

Queensland Mountain Bike Strategy Survey
MTBA and Common Ground Queensland MTB Strategy

You may have heard that there is a new Queensland Mountain Bike Trails Strategy being developed. The strategy is being coordinated by Mountain Biking Australia (MTBA) who have appointed Common Ground Trails to undertake the development of the strategy. The strategy is partly funded by the Queensland Government Sport and Recreation Planning Program. You can read up on it on the MTBA’s Trails page.

Recently a survey and interactive mapping facility was released to gain input from the Queensland MTB community. We encourage everyone to complete the survey.

The Bushrangers, Sunshine Coast Trails Alliance (SCTA), and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) have been planning and delivering local trail development using the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation (QORF) ‘Developing Mountain Biking in Queensland: Regional Solutions’ Report that was released in 2014. We hope new QLD MTB Strategy will build upon this work as we and others across the state have put a lot of effort towards making it a reality.
