The Ewen Maddock Dam and Dularcha National Park areas between Landsborough and Mooloolah offer a great way to get into Mountain Biking with wide flat trails with the option of tackling various hills to build on your fitness and skills.
Ewen Maddock Dam trails start at the Maddock Park area and follow the northern shoreline around to Landsborough. The start of the mountain bike trail consists of some steep hills so it may be better to follow the roadside footpath along to the second entry gate which bypasses the hills. See map to the right.
Along this section you’ll ride across embankments, through surrounding forests and have the option to tackle some steep hills like the horseshoe. There’s a few alternative routes that meet back with the main path to check out too.
Continuing through Landsborough you can link up to the old rail trail between Landsborough and Mooloolah. The main feature of this trail is the old tunnel which is long enough to become quite dark which can be a bit scary while riding a bike but it’s exciting at the same time. If you’re after a climb (and a descent!) then there are a few routes leading up the hill that lead back onto the rail trail.
At the end you will be in the Mooloolah township. From here you can either go back the way you came or continue along the pathway that rungs along Mooloolah Connection Rd back Maddock Park.

Of course if you’re wanting to experience these trails as part of a group ride then we do a community ride at this location once every three months.
