About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Update on Susie’s fall on Sunday

Susie our Women's Advocacy officer had a bad fall on Sunday's ride at Ewan Maddock Dam and had to be taken to hospital with an ambulance. She got a ride on a fancy stretcher Her leg and knee are banged up pretty bad and they are waiting for the swelling to subside before they can operate. We are thinking about you Susie and we really hope you heal well and are back on your feet pronto. When you can be sure to let us know how we can help. Michael JohnsClub Secretary P.S. Susie had to give her age for the 000 operator and I was shocked to hear that she actually isn't the 26 years old I thought she was!! Totally stunned!! P.P.S. Her bike is OK. It was a little shook up and scared but otherwise OK. ...

Parklands Signage Update

It's been a loooong time coming but the signage for Parklands is currently being printed and will soon be delivered and installed. The two big maps at both the Radar Hill Road and Atkinson road side of the park are being updated to include the new trails. There will be maps installed at the junction above Double Dab and the intersection where Rock'n'roll and Rock-a-dial meet the fire road. There will also be maps at the top of Phoenix and at the skills park. Additionally all those old map signs that only showed the fire roads are being replaced with new maps that also show the single-tracks. We are also getting some extra icons printed up so Rookie Road, Lush, Taser and Blue Tongue can be properly signed. Also we will get some "No Entry", "Give way" and extra directional arrows for problem intersections. So expect some trail care days to be called to get these posts and icons finally installed. Thanks to Ranger...

Training Clinics for Body Positioning and Braking – Get in quick!

[caption id="attachment_6890" align="alignright" width="300"] We get positive feedback about the quality of training - and not just from Geoff.[/caption] We are squeezing in some more training clinics before the end of the year. So on the 15/16th of December we've organised Geoff from HitBikes to run some skills training for body positioning and new braking techniques clinics. These will be small 5-person classes about 90min long and will teach you the importance of body positioning on a bike such as the "attack position" and the new braking technique clinics will teach the importance of...

Strength and Mobility Clinic Summary – 14/11/2018

So last week we had a Strength and Mobility clinic put on by Levi at 547 Sports Performance.

To make sure it was relevant for our bike riding he asked us where it hurt when we ride so things like wrists, back, knees, pride etc.

He then explained why it hurt and took us through a series of exercises to stretch and strengthen our bodies. These stretches done regularly help provide pain-free riding and increase our endurance and strength. It was a good night full of interesting and useful information… even with all the physical pain, sobbing and cries of agony.  :o)

Thanks again Levi.

Bushrangers Xmas Party – Sat 8th December 2018

Hello everyone, [caption id="attachment_7052" align="alignright" width="300"] Awwwww yeah!![/caption] Sonja has come up with a lovely idea of having our end of year party eating 'endless' pizza at a new brewery at near Tanawha. So I'm assuming it's an industrial conveyor belt process funneling directly into our mouths. The Glasshouse Brewery lads are finishing off their build and will be ready to host us at 4.30pm Saturday the 8th of December. The address is 330 Mons Road, Tanawha (i.e. the Kunara organic markets - so you can buy some expensive rolled oats while you're there). Cost will be $20 each if you want the pizza and partners are welcome (as long as they talk about how awesome bikes are etc). RSVP here - https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/2018-bushrangers-xmas-party-tickets-52738543403 Regards, Michael Johns Club Secretary  PS: If you don't like beer I'm sure there will be other things to drink...

Committee Positions and Roles – AGM is in 4 months

Hello Folks! So I've been chatting to people about our next AGM (in 4 months) and I'm hearing things like "No way I could do what you guys do! You guys did so much and are sooo handsome and smart, and witty etc". And that's mostly true BUT most of that work was optional and not required to run the club, if anything we bit off way too much. Now graphs make everything awesome so I made up this sexy RASIC chart (hello ladies!). It shows the essential tasks that need to be done to keep the club ticking over and what position should do it and also what position can back them up. [caption id="attachment_7047" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Roles and Responsibility Matrix[/caption]   Now this is just a guide and can be tweaked and adjusted as the new committee sees fit or if changes occurred e.g. adding a Vice President or Social Coordinator. So if a committee member wants to do more (like a training clinic,...

Mapleton Community Ride Summary – 04/11/2018

Hey everyone, So each month we do a "community" ride where we offer a easier ride for people who want to come along and try MTB out. This month we went to ride in the beautiful Mapleton Forest. The advanced group left from the township and did around 30km all through the forest with a lot more climbing while the easy group left from the Mapleton Day Use Area and rode the 18km out to the Oakey Creek Lookout and back. The forecasted high temperatures held off until later in the day so it ended up being a rather pleasant ride indeed. Someone in the advanced group forgot their hydration pack at the lookout so when the easy group arrived we wondered what this suspicious bag was. After a vigorous shake it was deemed safe and obviously not a bomb so we went through it and managed to track down it's owner (and eat all the muesli bars) - Hoorah! Afterwards we had coffee...

Cooroy to Lake Macdonald Ride Summary – 28/10/2018

[caption id="attachment_7035" align="alignright" width="300"] Ride Map and Elevation[/caption] So Prez Ben worked out a route for last Sunday's ride knowing that it was going to be a hot day. So he tried to keep it a bit shorter, mostly under the trees and limit any big climbs, I'm glad he did because by 8am the temperature was soaring. We started in Cooroy opposite the library then worked our way around to the Lake Macdonald spillway. Had a quick break and refilled out water bottles then we did a fun little bonus bit recommended by Toby. We had to backtrack in places because the creek was still high but we made it back to Cooroy for coffee after about 32km. Check out the video below and thanks for the ride folks. See you next week.
