Nice trails, great club, perfect weather made for a fantastic event. Also the race start being at 9am provided plenty of time to arrive and warm up or sleep in. On top of that any earlier and the cold would have been something to contend with because I don’t think it really started to warm up until the last lap.
Hey there ‘rangers,
14 of us showed up to Pomona at 7am and it was pretty cold so I’m thinking we switch over to 7.30am start times during these cooler months, so keep an eye out for the update.
We followed our ride leaders Terry and Al to Cooran and beyond. Despite the cold weather we warmed up real good with a prompt hill climb and then a few more afterwards just to make sure. The loose rocky climb up from Ferguson road was particularly good to get the heart thumping.
Trail care went well on Saturday afternoon with the top part of Phoenix track being snazzed up and the Roo Valley/Meadows link track from last week being finished off.
I think Phoenix is still being worked on this week again so its closed to let the digger do its thing and for the new features to settle in. Keep an eye on the SCTA Facebook for more details.
Here is the Parklands map that is going up on the info boards throughout the park. It gives you a good guide showing how the numbered circuits work with the trail names.
I’ll be in Parklands at 8.30am Saturday morning if anyone wants to come for a easy ride. We will meet at the Radar Hill road carpark, Kulangoor – https://goo.gl/maps/c7jbcdjAsPT2.
Ride will be on the “Novice trail” and will be 5km long and take about an hour. We will stop plenty of times to give tips and ask questions. Bring water, sunscreen, helmet, glasses and a bike in good nic.
You will also need insurance so sign up for the 8-weeks free insurance that the MTBA is offering – http://www.mtba.asn.au/join/
