About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Parklands 27/12/2020

Parklands Radar hill ride report. 27/12/2020   Great to see so many riders roll in to joining the post Xmas ride, lots of Present Bling on display from Gloves, Jerseys, socks etc…. and who know jocks?? QR Covid compliance sign in went smoothly to assist in keeping the population safer. Weather was moderately cool considering it was mid-summer. The faster group went into anticlockwise mode, heading for the hills quicker than the sweat running down their faces, various obstacles encountered including a behemoth fallen tree needing a 1+m lift over, group effort.. individualism kicked in several splinter groups formed to include downhill Xmas Gravity. The odd Shower helped cool the core,  decrease grip & fancy sideways manoeuvres  ensued  with fear in  the rocky sections.  Finishing on tracks Ccc, Tazar, Blue tongue followed by a warm down on Lush. Big effort.. hopefully we didn’t leave to many out in the wilderness. Moderate paced and Rookie riders balanced the rotation of the global axis (Parklands) by heading clockwise,...

Mapleton Ride 25/10/2020

Mapleton ride 25/10/2020   Thunder, lightning, wind, rain was all yesterday’s news !!!!! Sunday morning was looking fantastic with a clear radar, always brings joy to the MTB riding community. The dirty dozen of riders assembled for dirt duty at Lillyponds,  Mapleton rides are always an adventure, never the same. We headed out jumping into the single tracks as soon as possible, winding our way onto the Magic Mile, thoroughly enjoyable smorgasbord of carvery. Continuing onto the secret Mile back to Mapleton forest drive then single side-track for downhill fun, brought back down to earth to the next steep climb towards Cooloolabin. Hanging a right turn up English break,  back towards Mapleton with one E-bike less, oopps forgot to charge the battery, several attempts to charge it with muesli bars failed to work so leg work was employed.     Serious altitude loss down Python Break incorporating Sloppy Python descent, up Cornellious Break for  a  picturesque creek crossing  bite to eat then up River break when the top guns split...

Gogirls Gympie !!!! Training and Ride

GoGIRL teamed with Gympie Bike Riders to give 16 lucky riders an hour of coaching goodness. Amanda Finch and her partner Mike soon had the girls working on skill development activities after a quick observation of their riding ability. They broke the skills into sizable chunks with appropriate demonstrations and time for skill progression whilst keeping the session fun and varied. After analysing each rider's proficiency, I could hear their feedback using easy to understand language like B to B, which had us ladies all laughing but remembering what to do. After nailing the ready position, braking and cornering drills, they put these skills together on a purpose built track with awesome left and right handed berms that were easily accessible to the riders at the One Mile Mountain Bike Park where the coaching was held. It is open free to the public too if you want to check it out. Each and every GoGIRL that participated is helping Gympie Bike Riders develop this training area. All...

GOGIRL BVRT Ride report 21/09/20 – 24/09/20

GOGIRL BVRT Ride report 21/09/20 - 24/09/20 Day 1 GoGIRL BVRT tour began with John shuttling us to the start of our ride at Yarraman. The ride was gently undulating and we were soon chatting, laughing and enjoying the scenery. There were numerous magpie attacks but you’ll be happy to know no one was seriously injured. Right from the car park we were soon swooping stories I mean swapping stories of different strategies to over come this. There was interesting Darth Vader head gear worn, silver tails but after much experimentation, it was decided the most successful was riding in tight formation, two by two bikie style. One of the J’s (Jennifer Turner, Jennifer Hurrel, Jenny Kemp or Julia Petts) could often be heard talking sweetly which seemed to work very efficiently for her. We had a lovely feed and rest at Blackbutt park before rolling back to the delightful Linville Pub after riding 43km where there was more food, wine and chatter about...

Sugar Bag Caloundra 20/9/2020

Sugar Bag Caloundra 20/9/2020 Sugar bag is one of those last remaining inner suburban bush areas with MTB tracks accessible to the locals and visitors to the area, what a brilliant facility for people to live life to the MAX !!! and carve it up on all styles of MTB’s. This place is like a Cherry Ripe in a salad (I know what id prefere!!!) brilliantly set up & maintained by the local club CORCA. Bushrangers ready to roll but a couple of bikes refused to cooperate with a chain breaking in the car park and a disrespectful seat post dropping when not asked, best to get mechanicals out of the way early.  Santa (Cruz) came early for Paul V riding his new magic carpet in the lolly shop. Objective to ride all tracks which involves so many creative features, double sea saw, numerous timber rollovers, high windy raised skinnies, mega log rides, steep drops and sandstone rock gardens, big rock rolls.  Lots...

Atkinson Road Parklands 13.9.2020

Parklands Atkinson rd  13.9.2020 Crazy times Crazy Weather, September is usually the driest month not so this year more like Autumn than spring. With the Social ride at Radar side and Club ride at Atkinson rd side. Great to see kids with mums and dads riding so well in Parklands some real talent coming through the ranks…. A tight nit group of club riders set off down Red Dog track… giving more downhill track time than flying down Phoenix which was to be a bit skatey from a recent shower of rain. Regrouping at the 4 ways and heading up Chairlift to gain altitude before hammering ”Upper NZ “ then “Beehive” partially for maximum Rock Culture, topped off with a brutal attack of “T track” down to the end  of cancer tree.  Much debate ensued as to recent track realignment of CT with only positive affirmations voiced. A tree down on CT utilised the Bull Elephants in the group to remove it. Blue Tongue and...
