About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

New Bushrangers banner has arrived

The old banner was missing in action for awhile and now it's showing its age with the ink peeling off in places. A new banner was quickly designed and printed up and looks pretty bloody good (even if I do say so myself)! The timing is great as we will have it up at the 24hr ride this weekend and the Trex ride next weekend. We also have a booth at the upcoming Heart Week expo. GO BUSHRANGERS!...

20/03/2016 – Mapleton community ride summary

Well what a great ride today was! John was ride leader today and rumour had it that he was going to mix things up a bit. Now on the few rides I've been on where John says this it usually meant we were up for a whole lot of climbing and I'd more than likely be saying words similar to "goshdarnit" and  "I think I'm a little bit pooped". But my fears were totally unwarranted because the ride ended up being pretty awesome and just the right amount of challenging. Initial ride briefing was loud and clear, the trails chosen were a good mix of climbing, flow and technical and the ride was smoothly adapted where needed to account for the varying fitness levels of the group. It was big group of 28 today and after riding together from the Mapleton township through some beautiful trails we arrived at the Mapleton Day Use Area where we split up into a "Gung Ho" group and a "Moderate" group. The gung ho group shot...

We have a world champion in our midst

[caption id="attachment_612" align="alignright" width="300"] Many mountains to climb Pete[/caption] On Saturday night (02/04/2016) the club celebrated Peter Bigaila's WEMBO World Championship 24Hour category win (individual result) that earned him a rainbow jersey and another achievement among many in his long sporting career. For anyone who has been tracking Pete's training regime it came as no surprise as Pete has been clocking up many many kilometres and achieving great results in various 24hr, marathon and other cross-country events.  His next event, the Merida 24hr at Hiddenvale this weekend and we'll be cheering him all the way.    ...

Why Women’s Only Rides?

Many have pondered the big question- "Why are there not more women riders?" All dressed up and looking the part, I head off on my 29er (with very wide bars), for my first MTB experience. Hubby and number one son, decide that we should go explore Parklands. After getting off my bike for numerous obstacles (logs and sharp rocks) and narrow gaps between trees, (what were they doing there in the first place?), I began to wonder and stress a wee bit, (we seem to be forever descending into a black hole), I know what goes down eventually has to come up. What am I doing here? This is not fun! After falling off a few times and walking more than riding, I decide that mountain biking is not for me. This is a familiar story and well-meaning partners and husbands encouraging words of “You can do it love” just doesn’t always cut it. After scraping yourselves off the forest floor, many...
