About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Be Bold for Change – International Women’s Day 2017!

[caption id="attachment_2735" align="alignright" width="300"] Click for more info about IWD2017[/caption] I thought the Bushrangers should say a big hello and a "You go Girl" <bobs head and clicks fingers> to all our female riders - the smarterest and better looking of all the genders! Thanks to the amazing efforts of Susie and the GoGirls there are more ladies in the club than ever and it's truly great, because to borrow a line from the Jerry McGuire movie - "You complete me" (with "me" meaning the club, not me personally because I've already been completed by the lovely Kim - sorry ladies). Ewan Maddock Dam Ride Summary – 05/03/2017

Hello ‘rangers!

The weather was a bit dismal yesterday morning so I was expecting a low turnout at yesterday’s ride but we ended up with 25 people! We had Helen, Wayne, Julie and Ian from CORCA show up as well as new riders Em, Jason and Phil come along (I hope I got Phil’s name right). Pete Bigaila (the recently published megastar) was like, only a metre away from me. I swear I almost wet myself. If I had had a felt pen I would’ve asked him to sign my boobs or something and not bath ever again.

We rode through the dam trails with the idea we can take the sneaky shortcut to Ferny Forest but it ended up being way too boggy so we had to continue through to Landsborough then we rode back to Ferny Forest along Steve Irwin way. Ian and Julie dropped off here and had their coffee break at Landsborough. You did good Julie – 15km through loose trails at a rather brisk pace – nice work!

Brewhaha Coffee van at Ferny Forest!

Most of us stopped at Ferny Forest for coffee and a chat at the BrewHaha coffee van. A few of the others went off and did a lap of Ferny Forest before their coffee. This was where Chad got pretty dirty when he had a crash (yes, another one) while trying to keep up with Paul and Pete. I had a go at Graham’s Focus e-bike which was pretty cool (although the bike’s computer kept calling me Graham).

National Ride to School day – Friday 17/03/2017 #ride2school

It's National Ride to School day on Friday 17/03/2017 so if you have any school age kids why don't you ride with them to school (or even park down the street and they can ride as you walk beside them). Some schools have dedicated rides planned so check to see if your school has anything organised. If it gets kids onto bikes is good in my books! From the website: "Over the past 40 years the number of children who are physically active everyday has significantly dropped. Today, levels of physical activity are at an all-time low. In the 1970s, eight out of ten students rode or walked to school. That number has dropped to just two out of ten. Sadly, Australian kids are now spending up to 16 hours of their day in front of a screen." National Ride2School Day is the perfect opportunity for every school community to ditch the car and embrace a healthier start to the day by riding and...

Bushranger Chad rides in the Shimano Enduro Series at Garapine

So our Chad rode at Garapine last weekend in the first round of the Shimano Enduro Series.

There was a massive turn out with 300+ riders getting their full-face helmets on and giving themselves to the wonderful combination of dirt and gravity.

Courtesy of a big crash on a practice run

Now Chad is no stranger to going fast and falling off his bike a lot and this weekend was no exception.  On the practice runs on Saturday he had a massive tumble which left him and his helmet a bit worse for wear. Despite the injuries he still pulled some respectable times on the Sunday and finished in the middle of his category.

Here is some more awesome video and pictures over at PinkBike to check out and the full results are here.

Nice work Chad!!
