Parklands Atkinson rd ride 8/3/2020
Ride report Parklands Atkinson road 8.3.2020
If ever you are faced with the decision to ride a single track on the Sunshine coast after some rain or predicted, then Parklands Atkinson road side could be for you.
With gloomy weather and light rain falling a hopeful crowd of Bushrangers eagerly watched the much feared blue pixels on the Radar slowly disappear. Seems to be a modern phobia among riders waking in in a cold sweat after visualising blue, green, orange and red blobs of rain on the BOM radar. Sometimes it’s best not to look and JUST DO IT. It worked today.
Keeping on the weathered but rocky tracks weaving through gums and native grasses the team regrouped at the 4 ways, Percy the ebike was in protest mode with Di2 technology jumping 4 gears at a time we think this was due to impure thoughts by the rider !!, While the single speed XC hard tail threw its rider off in a gully due to possible insolent behaviour. Slippery angled logs and roots were the challenge for the day taking giving everyone some sideways drifts. The infamous “T” track was ridden in anger but joy down to the sweet S’s.
Deeper in the Rainforest tracks everyone negotiated the rocky crossings with MTB glee and avoided being consumed by the Hobbit gully before Gumby and Lush tracks were thoroughly enjoyed. From rocks to flow Parklands has a massive diversity of tracks to explore, there is always another track you haven’t ridden. Get out there and explore, Trail forks is your friend.
With a nice cool breeze, we headed back through the southern highlands, meadows, upper NZ then cranked it back up to the top.
Bli Bli was the point of Caffeine infusion with a feeling of contentment and relief the weather demons did not win today for at least those that attended.
Next weeks ride is Bone Yards See calendar for details, note Autumn ride time will be 7:00am
