About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Tewantin “Wooroi” Community June 2020

Beaming with enthusiasm existing and new club members were eager to challenge themselves with the flowy trails of Wooroi after some time off from club inactivity.

WOW Mountain biking has taken off big time, a real positive spin-off from Covid ISO. Nice mix of bike types present… New Ebikes, Hardtails, XC dual suspension, trail and endure style bikes, really was like a big jar of colorful jellybeans. Mixed with riders young and older. Just goes to show its 80% rider and 20% bike, all bikes are good…and welcomed.

Catering for a range of skills and Covid compliance the more vigorous riders headed off earlier to complete the full repertoire of tracks lead out by the single speed Swami Johnny. A fairly hot pace was set by the older hands up and down the hills and gullies, it was noted that everyone was wearing their baggy riding shorts so the group was renamed the “Soggy bottom boys” no lycra required. Although someone did bring their portable air compressor along for the ride and needed it, always a new gadget to keep the interest.

One of the inner clan members “vice pres Adam” showed total commitment to the cause with high speed tangle with mother earth while executing  Trail Blazer at full tilt, a credit to his resilience and effectiveness of the helmet to keep him  in one piece. New helmet time.

The community group of riders nearly maxed out the 20 rule and experienced the full culture of Wooroi enjoying the sublime tracks, recent rain making for maximum grip holding the sandy tracks together inspiring confidants. Bloodwood track nearly lived up to its name with the Orange Kona releasing some tension putting its rider down to be at one with the earth. Great effort and kms ridden by all. Check out the wild video and sick air by some of the group… nice work.

This ride is designed to encourage & make welcome newer riders helping them learn tracks they may have never ridden before. While a moderate level of fitness is required for MTB riding, we all started out wishing we were faster or more skilled, riding with others gives you a positive challenge & learning experience at a pace you determine. Like most sports the better you get the more you enjoy it, so keep trying.  Thanks to all the new members for the positive feedback and sharing your new experiences with your new club Bushrangers, looking forward to seeing you all again. Check out the Website calendar for the ride grading levels to suit your confidants level.
