Hidden Vale Away Ride June 2020
Bushrangers Hidden Vale June 2020
Its been a long time coming but the wait was worth it for this great away ride. Best ride ever.
With the long weekend for the central sunshine coast a group of enthusiastic riders hit the trails on Friday, after recent mid-week rain the tracks were in pristine condition and recent track works made some of the weathered tracks flow to the point of euphoria.
The track names are a dead giveaway of what to expect like Devine, Gorgeous, skyfall, Ripple effect, Hopping rocks…..check out trail forks App.
If you have never been to Hidden Vale this place will be etched in your memory as each track you ride has its own unique adventure and character, you will be planning your next trip in no time.
Friday night at the campground, stars out crisp air and a nice warm fire with great MTBer company, was another great reason to escape to the country town of Grandchester.
It’s not only the visual feast of the night sky that you’ll remember there is the deep guttural thrum of several Diesel locomotives passing close by in the night oohh and the wonderful 1:32pm roosters!! All part of the cultural ambiance. Yah gotta do it.
Saturday Morning ride off saw more dedicated Bushranger riders arrive, with a group photo for the record then we hit the trails in two separate groups as the numbers swelled over 26 riders !!! Best ride ever.
A warm barmy winters day had the km burning group heading out to some of the sweetest tracks in QLD, with “Hopping rocks” unleashing it’s magic of twists turns gullies an scenic flow before heading out to the cruel up hills towards “500 Above” . Mountain biking is all about effort and reward so after climbing to the scenic lookout, altitude about 495m with jelly legs the joy seekers unleashed down 7km & 430m of G force descent all smiles Yewwww……… Riders Creed, Treedom, Fairy Wren then Plane Sailing tracks guided everyone safely back to the trail head. Over 50+km ridden in total pleasure.
Thrill seeker group 2 sought out the other Hidden vale Downhill treasure “Skyfall” getting out and back on all the favourite tracks looking after each other and enjoying great comradery, some tried stop drop roll in the dirt in slow mo with no blood drawn, just a dam good time in this MTB wonderland. Massive effort 40km by all riders who arrived back at the same time as group 1 . Food and drink at Spicers retreat.
Saturday night back at the campground, fire, tiger costumes, Birthday cake, elixir. what could go wrong…. you had to be there. What happens on the trails stays on the trails. Sunday morning and light rain thinned the group to the select few with others returning to reality of the berbs.
Looking forward to seeing you all great people and more at the next ride for more effort and rewards..
