Mapleton Adventure ride 24/1/2021 grade 3 , 4-5 groups
Ride Report: Mapleton 24/1/2021
Finding a car park was the first indication of mountain bikers seeking a Mapleton Forest Fang.
With two ride options on offer an equal split saw one group (Grade 3) taking on shady single tracks and fire roads to the lookout and back on Oakey creek rd. lots of side-tracks to keep the skills up. The variety of terrain and scenery takes the mind off any hills with 31Km and about 650m ascent. This route rolls really well……The lookout photo tells the Happy story
Second group was the grade 4-5 ride as it included some spectacular down hill drifty gravel, open dirt roads, big tree forests at the bottom of Cedar creek road and a mega 4km climb back to Mapleton forest drive before slippery climb up the Magic Mile. Big effort for the non-assisted riders and Bigger smiles from E blasters. 33km and 780m elevation. Spectacular scenery
Notable moments. Rider off negotiating Gravel Gnar, Dropper post cable anxiety separation, Derailleur stick impalement RACQ Rob save day with tow rope, General euphoria form riders.
Post ride patronage refueling @ Mapleton café and Bakery kept the dream alive.
Thanks to everyone for making a great ride Bloody Fantastic……….
Next weeks ride Gympie, Weather is looking great for this one.
