PromisedLand & Toogoom
Promisedland & Toogoom 12 & 13 June 2021.
Escape to Fraser coast MTB tracks is always much anticipated, some rolling in early on Friday to check out the mellow Toogoom town. Evening BBQ on the menu had new member Ross turning sausage’s faster than a Fat bike tyre on soft sand… Spectacular sunset nearly used up all the film roll on the smart phones.
Saturday pilgrims meeting at Childers, then pre ride photo at Promisedland trail head. Champing at the bars 6 more insane riders cranked out 35km before lunch. Best weather ever for this region set the scene for an adventurous ride for the other 13 skilled riders carving out a Nicceee 22+km of some of the best tracks in SEQ.
Batteries and Bellies running low on fuel had everyone rest up for a social lunch before heading out to feel sand & stones beneath their treads again. The eastern sections tending to be more sandy creeks and gullies with western area having more pebbles/rocks/ rolls, once in the zone this place is a sheer joy to ride.
A must do if you are in the area and a real credit to the local MTB club custodians. Thanks.
Back at Toogoom and dusted down the ” Salty Squid” restaurant provided great food and drink satisfying the most ravenous riders and some birthday cheer. We look forward to the lusty Bushrangers MTB calendar Ha Ha…so many volunteers. January to December.
Sunrise and Dolphins started Sunday at Mikes wonderful Abode on the water then off to the Toogoom tracks. Most were half cooked from ride overindulgence on Saturday, however the back blocks of Toogoom once again entranced everyone with a tough but thoroughly enjoyable ride through shale climbs, big roller dippers, and coastal views. This place Rocks and then some…20-40km ridden, Something for everyone.
Massive thankyou to Mike for sharing his place with the Bushrangers.
