About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Ride report Nerang and Hinze dam Oct 2021

Patience paid off and the stars aligned for this ride to happen.

Meeting at Nerang trail head with bikes, bananas, bags, bottles and ballistic intent the lucky 12 riders set off on Baileys track.

Storm swept from the night made for a clear run, only one person knelt on the earth letting out a small amount of holy MTBer blood.  Destination “Lossstttt World” via various amazing single tracks criss- crossing some challenging gullies, negotiating the sketchiest wood bridges in the industry, torquing up rocky climbs.

Trail forks was working overtime before arriving at Lost world, this is where the atmosphere changes, riding along cool shady twisty downhill brilliance with clear water creeks… Such well thought out track building and vision by whoever the makers were…Maximum Kudos to you.. Happy days indeed.

Heading back down via “Elevator” then onto “Goanna” and a jumpy section of the 2018 Commonwealth games MTB track arriving back at the Velodrome start point. A couple of punters couldn’t resist some hot laps of the Velodrome to get the Strava k’s up. Consensus was… when can we get back and do it all again..

Canungra show grounds lush grassy area and hot showers was perfect for R n R, with the pub providing a hearty meal to refuel. Highly recommended.

Sunday morning Hinze dam is a focal point for morning coffee with a busy car park of motorcyclists and sightseers plus Bushrangers Mtbers. Setting out along the engineering marvel of the dam wall then hitting the lower tracks of “Family loop” then up to Bills Loop. While short in distances these tracks make up for it in single track quality, shady coverage, dips corners, ups and downs. Well worth doing a couple of times in both directions.

Café provided a fine selection of calorie rich consumables and Caffeine.

Great people, locations and riding… If you missed this one there is another away ride at Bayview and Daisy hill, camping at Karingal Scout camp on 23 & 24 October.

PS… the club has a generator if you need to blow-dry your hair 😊
