Sunday Creek Ride report 2.1.2022
Ride Report Wet weather alternatives: January is fraught with mixed weather so Wet Wooroi was left to drain with 2 alternatives on offer from Bush to Beach.
Option 1: 9 extremists met up on Sunday creek rd west of Kenilworth for a Cross country high altitude forest ride, Nervous not having an official previous measure of distance and climbing the crew headed through the amazing forests of the western Conondale rangers before turning down Stanton’s fire rd, faced with some very low traction red clay made some of the pro riders sweat but it was short lived as they bombed down a very long descent into summer mt road.
Entering the open cattle country of the Yeilo rd , sun shining and strong breeze dried the mud freckles as they rode up the windy gravel range back toward Sunday creek rd, not far from Jimna. Stopping at the education camp for a snack, photo shoot and trail lies. Back on the rd Climbing Climbing climbing to the high point of Peters trail at 810m above sea level, Summer temperatures of 20 degrees was sensational. A swift generally down rough rocky rd descent back to the cars saw 41km and 1300m ascent (according to Chippa technology) . Lots more to explore out in the wilderness in the future.
Option 2: Coastal Pathy leaving Bp Mooloolaba for lap of the southern half of the Sunshine coast with no mud lots of water views, covering nearly 60km !! nice mostly clear skies. Pleasant roll with great company Mr T knows all long and short cuts in the maze of parks side streets and back paddocks. Not much bike cleaning required. Thanks for preserving the wet mtb tracks Wooroi and offering good clean fun. More engaging than watching red Bull Rampage.
