Yandina, Cooloolabin, Pt Glorious 24.3.2022
Patchy heavy showers (blue pixels of riders doom) on the radar did not deter an eager 16 riders gathering at Yandina Station, with a tyre delamination preventing a big gun from starting, nobody had a spare tyre!!.
Warming up through the back blocks before hitting the sole searching “Bottle and Glass” rd climb, an old Cobb & Co dry weather route from the 1858. We were keeping the dream alive.
Patches of blue sky and cool breeze lifted most up to the Cooloolabin hall where we picked up the 2nd group of riders. Now totalling 23, continuing through the Single track to the dam wall then around the rugged puddle infested back loop of the dam exiting along Blackall rd. Nice track with plenty of variation up and down, a must do.
Pt Glorious rd full of surprises encountering a massive black horse with rider holding an Australian flag in training for ANZAC day. Past the ½ way mark the Pt glorious view rewarded the climbing efforts and camera operators.
Group 1: 41 km 991m ascent
Group 2 : 23km 567m ascent
Returning to the top off “Bottle and glass” the group spilt back in to 2 for the journey to Yandina and Cooloolabin. Group 1 enjoying the down hill thrills of the Bottle and Glass descent, with everyone arriving in one piece back in Yandina for “Gun Cotton” Coffee.
