About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Charlie moreland Mt Alan August 2022

Ride Report: Charlie Moreland, Summer fall,  Mt Alan.

Generally, when you go on holidays most things are in the brochure Right ??… Wrong! , warnings of black ice on the road at 3 degrees in Kenilworth !!!! on the car dash….

So, a wonderful chilly start had 14 riders assembled in a patch of sunlight with a waft of smoke from camp fires…. oh now things are starting to sound better.  With Pro riders Emma, Kerrie and Peter heading off up the notorious Sunday Creek rd climb everyone followed up the 12km 500m climb to enlightenment, taking in the Rainforest and roof of the world views of the Conondale National Park.

Getting into single track and only stopping to look at the amazingly clear blue water in the creeks, with some crossings and negotiating some massive trees down, stopping for a well-earned break at summer falls. Kerrie fuelled up on chocolate coated coffee beans and an apple!!!???, Tony was having a severe case of battery E fobia and flat derailure.

Rested and with cold legs we climbed back to Sunday creek rd for a regroup for the fire rd climb to Mt Alan fire tower. With peter looking like he was back in the war after a leach took more than its fair share of blood combined with a rasp vine OUCH!!.

After a geography lesson from Dno it was time to unleash the beast (Chippa?) for the  3km of super steep, fast downhill, brake smoking, water bars and  eye watering speed…  or maybe just poke along and stay safe. Stopping at the last creek crossing to do a head count the stories came out with 2 riders hitting the deck and some other close encounters nothing serious just fun & some minor scuffs. 33km and 1140m climbing  made for some amazing riding efforts you know who you are…

Post ride Buffet in the picnic grounds of Lamingtons, scones, muffins and cups of beverages had everyone planning the next weeks away ride to Hiddenvale for 2 days of more fantastic riding, hope to see you all there..
