About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Wondai Dirty Weekend

Wondai Dirty weekend…. fire festival.

Friday afternoon Wondai showgrounds glowed with fire pits and anticipation of two days of country hospitality, sweet tracks, perfect riding weather and guarantee of bigger smiles.
Frost greeted the Saturday arrivals all robed up for the roll South along the rail trail. Punching into the wind, we arrived at Wooroolin historic rail station greeted by Jason from the South Burnett Mountain Bike Club who then guided the peloton to Gordonbrook dam via the relaxing wide open rds.

Joined by SBMTBC, CORCA and Bushrangers amalgamated to ride a fantastic mix of trail features including dual stage jumps, rock gardens, XC loop and drifty berms. Really enjoyable tracks and credit to the club for putting all the work in. Petre B’s Carbon frame after 9 trillion oscillations had a catastrophic failure. Regrouping for a quick bite to eat at the picnic grounds the time trial groups literally sailed back to wondai (some via the Tingoora pub!) big effort with most riding up to 70Km . Great effort.

Hot showers and re-robing (Jezz took out the most combative) the battle of the fire pits continued with heavyweights receiving glowing reports, Big luke was disqualified for illegal modifications and nobbling the opposition with large quantities of port!! Outrageous!!

Sunday, no frost, crystal clear azure skies and more riding. Meeting in town for the local old school hand crafted tracks led by the SBMTBC team. Magic mix of terrain, gullies, well designed turns and climbs provided a big buzz and something for all levels of riders. Up to 30km woven through the bush by many riders.

Icing on the cake was the generous post ride BBQ catering by SBMTBC. The generosity from SBMTBC to CORCA and Bushrangers clubs was greatly appreciated making for one of the best Dirty weekends on record. Thanks to all who attended …. This one goes on the calendar for next year…
