About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Merry Xmas! Parkland’s New Green and Black Level Trails ARE OPEN!!

One of the log rides being built on the black trail

Hey Everyone,

As of this afternoon the green beginner’s loop and the black flow trail will be completed and open for riding.

So we are cancelling this Sunday’s Yandina/Cooloolabin ride and instead heading into Parklands to ride the newly opened Green loop and the Black flow trail.

To celebrate this awesome Xmas present for all of us we are going to setup the BBQ and put some food and drinks on for anyone who wants to come and ride the new trails on Sunday morning.

Time: 8am Sunday 24/12/2017
Location: Shipping container at the old carpark (start of the new beginners loop). Just follow Rocky Creek Forest Road up from the Radar hill carpark (https://goo.gl/maps/mtnsQxguUVu).

Thanks to the hard work of QPWS, Trailworx and our volunteers and another big thanks to Queensland Department of Sport and Recreation and Sunshine Coast Council for the grants that made this possible.

SAFETY NOTE: The new black trail has big berms, table tops, rock gardens, step downs and jumps. So give it a slow run first to check things out.

New Reef to Reef Stage Race

[caption id="attachment_4603" align="alignright" width="300"] Reef to Reef 4-Day Course[/caption] Here's a handy excuse to head to the far northern parts of Queensland to ride your pushie in August 2018. Expanding on the already popular Rural Rainforest Reef (RRR) cross-country race is the new Reef to Reef stage race. Over four days R2R throws in the Smithfield and Davies Creek trail networks with most of the RRR course that includes Mt Molloy and Wetherby Station to Port Douglas. The same organisers are behind the Port to Port and Cape to Cape stage races so you can be confident that this will be a well organised affair. There's plenty of information about the race and the area, including accommodation options, on their website: https://reeftoreefmtb.com/ otherwise checkout their Facebook Page. If you do head up - don't forget there's great riding to be had in nearby at the Atherton MTB Park....

New MTBA Membership Options

Hi Folks, MTBA have new membership options available and we're pretty excited about them. Current MTBA members would have received an email with the following information. Firstly the new seniors category (Masters 7+) provides reduced fees for those who are 60yrs old and over - it's great to see people continuing or taking up mountain biking during their retirement, this option will help ensure they're looked after in case of an accident while also being more affordable. Then there's a 'public liability' option that might be of interest to potential/current 'club only' members who have private health cover/other insurance coverage but wish to make sure that they're completely covered. Worth a look if you aren't sure if you're covered in this regard. The next one is pretty exciting for us on the Sunshine Coast - it's a Triathlon Australia value-add membership. If you're already a member of Triathlon Australia and wish to take up off-road triathlons, MTB racing or just want to use mountain...

Mountain Biking Australia Recognised as a National Sporting Organisation

Congratulations to Mountain Biking Australia (MTBA) for being recognised as a 'National Sporting Organisation' (NSO) by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and therefore joining the ranks of 94 other sporting organisations including Cycling Australia and BMX Australia. This is a great benefit to the whole MTB community. Of the many possibilities this creates this will hopefully lead to clear and supported development pathways and help steer government/private funding towards building and developing MTB related activities and facilities. We're excited to see what opportunities arise for us as a MTBA affiliated club - perhaps we have the next Commonwealth Games/Olympic representatives in our midst (no, Fat Bike racing isn't a thing Michael). Hi Folks, So far a third of you have completed the membership survey - this is fantastic and thank you. Who'd have guessed the president has been voted the best looking committee member. HOWEVER it would be awesome if we could get everyone to complete it as then it would be truly representative. So if you haven't filled out the survey yet, please do so before the 1st of December, 5PM (that's 2 weeks away). It doesn't matter if you're a new member or haven't been along on a ride - your input is always appreciated. Don't forget there's a random prize draw for those who completed the survey and provided their details. If you haven't received the survey link or have deleted the email please let us know by emailing info@bushrangers.org or contacting us through social media or in person during a ride. 2017 Annual Membership Survey

Hi Folks, By now you will have received an email (or two, because one got caught in the interwebs for a day, sorry!). This email has a link to our 2017 membership survey for you to complete. The data we have received already has been particularly interesting so please keep it coming! Ride start times Club Systems Fund Raising Trail Development General Feedback Additionally there's going to be a random prize draw afterwards as a bit of an added incentive to complete the survey.
