About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

First Aid for Mountain Bikers

On Saturday afternoon 12 of us convened at the State Emergency Service's (SES) Buderim facility to undergo a basic first aid session provided by fellow member and past club social coordinator, Sonja, who also volunteers for the SES. Sonja had tailored the course to suit mountain bikers and what they may come across while riding the trails. Topics included: Bandaging cuts and grazes Securing broken limbs Treating snake bites Conducting CPR Using an automated external defibrillator (AED) Through the delivery of these topics the group learned about what medical supplies were useful to carry and how to evaluate the condition of an injured persons while maintaining their comfort while awaiting an ambulance. Sonja did an excellent job delivering the training and kept things interesting, answered questions and ensured the practical exercises went smoothly. Thanks goes to Sonja and the SES for letting us use their excellent facility and equipment such as CPR manikins and training AED. Also don't forget to install the Emergency+ app on your smartphone - it's...

Just getting into Mountain Biking? Try the Ferny Forest trails

Ferny Forest is a 10km loop track that is great for all riders but is especially good for new riders to build confidence and their fitness. The trail is well marked and goes through some beautiful forest and along the edge of the Ewan Maddock Dam. You can either park in the carpark opposite the Big Cart Track or there is another carpark near the real estate agent towards the Mooloolah turn-off. There is more information in the "Where to ride" section here. From the latest SEQ Water update email. Grant update and help required

Hello folks, [caption id="attachment_1171" align="alignright" width="300"] Proposed trail work[/caption] We are moving along nicely with the $100k grant for the next phase of the Parklands upgrade which is a novice trail, skills area and 2 flow trails (all on the highway side of the park) but we need some help with the following points. "Community Engagement" (We need letters of support) The grant applications require us to consult with the relevant community groups, businesses and individuals and get letters of support saying they endorse this Parklands project and why. I've already sent emails to schools, scout groups, Rotary, Sunshine Coast tourism and Airport and the Nambour business alliance asking for their support. So if anyone has any ideas or knows of someone who would write a letter of support then let us know or get them to send the letter to info@bushrangers.org. "Co-contribution" (We need money or material/service donations) The grants require us to co-contribute to the grant so to get the full $100k grant we need to contribute $25k. Contributions...
