About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Bushrangers Ride Report 16/8/2020 Bone Yards “Welcome to the Jungle” Eagerly awaited and well attended Boneyards ride, a happy clan  of Bushrangers set off from Ferny Forest car park, first challenge was to see who could lift their bike over their head…to get over the first obstacle, a team effort ensured E bikes weren’t left behind…. Sandy tracks became ridable from the night’s rainfall, crisscrossing fire roads and Moto tracks before arriving deep in the jungles of Bone Yards proper. Weird place with skeletal remains, grey bearded Mtbers riding in circles & muttering not knowing how to get out of the endless loops, back tracks, deep forest, bogs, and mountains. The lost world so close to civilisation… Tribal drums and peoples could be heard but never seen apart from a man in a purple suit……. Concentration, skill, and leg burning effort ensured everyone completed the fantastic tracks, with something for all riders.  A real gem of a place to ride with local knowledge being...

Ride report Radar Hill 9.8.2020

Parklands Ride report 9/8/20 Nice day for a MTB ride clear skies, cool weather. Great turn out form Bushrangers members, age ranged from 8-74 that is a range of 66 years showing how mountain biking caters for all folks from all corners of the earth. Track report….. Bloody fantastic………. The odd small puddle the rest sublime. Two groups headed out warming up in the flow of “Lush” before some Lads did a bit of session work on Skills area after a trail care last weekend. Definite Buzz in the air with the E bikers having mega fun in express train style. Tazer was zapped and footage taken for your viewing pleasure. Dean gets the tabletop Kudos…. Fasties group seeking out lots of altitude in western section in their quest for downhill inner glow with a couple of riders getting out of shape and becoming at one with mother earth….. Wooroi Community ride. August 2020

Wooroi Community ride. August 2020 How good does it get?? and how lucky are we??  living in Australia, QLD, Sunshine Coast and then riding at Wooroi mtb tracks just west of Noosa.….. doesn’t get much better. No wonder the mountain biking has taken off …Higher than a Red Bull Rampage jump!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mHUGX8wEXc Our monthly Community ride attracted a hearty group of mixed species pedal heads, younger, older, and in-between. Catering for the range of riding skills two separate groups explored the freshly maintained trails with all riders saying how great revamped burms and features rode, the faster group couldn’t help but ride Trail Blazer thrice  plus everything else they could get there knobby tyres to roll across covering 32Km.  Yeeew…. Beginner to intermediate group sort out single tracks, flowy loops high and low.  Wooroi suits all levels of riders even those that rode a 7 hr race the day before!!! Parklands Atkinson rd July 2020

Parklands Atkinson rd.  12/7/20. The lesser know side of parklands Atkinson rd entry is a bit of a hidden gem in the rocky landscape of Parklands Conservation park. Only way to learn it is to ride it…………. Being recently burned by QPWS, changing for a short while the whole experience from Green grasses and white barked gums to blackened rocky backdrops and charred tree trunks. Amazingly the actual trails remain unburnt making them stand out and easily navigated. 21 riders in attendance headed off weaving their way  through the diverse single tracks that make this place unique, resent rain brought out the Sweet Smokey aromas of the bush bit like riding your bike and having a BBQ at the same time doesn’t get much better than this…..  Ha Ha, although no drinking and riding just to be on the safe side. Making a B line West along NZ, Slip and Bleed (aaah who makes up these names!!!??)? Rock it Man, Hoe Chi Ho tracks...

Cooloolabin- Pt Glorious June 2020

Cooloolabin Dam ride June 2020. If there is one way to thin a MTB ride it is to add the wrong ingredients bit like making a cake without the chocolate, cream, butter, sugar and not cooking it. Well in this case it mattered not that it was cold, overcast, raining on the coast, mid-winter with low light and some drizzle. The Genie was in the bottle and was about to be released as the decent down “Bottle and Glass” downhill track was the icing on the cake and the lure of the ride ahead. 15 trail hardened riders assembled at the Yandina BMX track determined to make the most out of the gloomy day, and they did.. Splitting in two groups with the traditional ride being started by 7 wayward  Bushrangers with a warm up pedal along Browns creek road before facing the demon in the bottle (and Glass) fire road with a climb of 4.8km and 333m elevation, recently graded and hard packed...

Ride report Parklands Atkinson road 8.3.2020 If ever you are faced with the decision to ride a single track on the Sunshine coast after some rain or predicted, then Parklands Atkinson road side could be for you. With  gloomy weather and light rain falling a hopeful crowd of Bushrangers eagerly watched the much feared blue pixels on the Radar slowly disappear. Seems to be a modern phobia among riders waking in in a cold sweat after visualising blue, green, orange and red blobs of rain on the BOM radar. Sometimes it’s best not to look and JUST DO IT. It worked today. Palmwoods – Eudlo Wet weather ride

Ride report Wet Weather alternative ride #2  Palmwoods Eudlo Back country highlands tour. 16/2/2020 Cabin fever (also called stir-crazy, from the use of stir to mean 'prison') is a claustrophobic reaction, manifested as extreme irritability and restlessness, that takes place when a person or group ends up in an isolated or solitary location, or stuck indoors in confined quarters for an extended period of time. And so it was, with record rainfall in some areas of the sunshine coast a serious effort was needed to save our sanity from the conditions. The Big Guns John and Wayne were called into scope a suitable ride, and they certainly delivered mapping out a sensational ride like no other ridden before, thanks. Mapleton to Cooloolabin dam ride report

Ride report Wet Weather alternative ride  Mapleton to Cooloolabin Dam . 9/2/2020 February is a month we are considering removing from the Australian calendar… too hot, humid, wet, fires, storms and unpredictability, although the Bushrangers had a cunning plan to fend off the weather gods by having 3 great ride options. With Toby showing off the Maroochydore to Coolum coastal paths and scenic Emu mountain national park, avoiding excess water and mud in sensible style. Graham taking the scenic tour around Ewan Maddock dam and surrounds with some enthusiastic new members. See the earlier posts for details. The other ride was the Highland tour from Mapleton to Cooloolabin dam via the gravel road along Mapleton forest drive. Total return 29km. Trail Care Parklands – 18/1/2020

Another great turn out for the Parklands Trail care day on Saturday 18/1/2020. Nice to have some decent rain the night before helping us identify the low puddle spots and drainage needs. The focus was on the Rookie road track in to the skills/hub area with repairs made to the sticky berm through the first creek, sand stone blocks were laid in the larger eroded channels topped up with road base kindly supplied by QPWS who are always happy to assist the Bushrangers club. Additional works are planned to stabilise existing sandstone crossing that have eroded underneath. A big shout out to new people who attended that aren’t part of a specific club but ride in parklands, your generosity and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated “Maximum Kudos”, looking forward to seeing you all again. The Adopt a Trail maintenance scheme is ready to launch so keep an eye out for upcoming details if you would like to be part of an ongoing trail maintenance...
