About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Success! Gambling Community Benefit Fund Grant

On Friday the 23rd of September the club received a bank transfer from the QLD Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) for $24,587.50 meaning that we were successful in our round 89 application earlier this year (April/May)! The funding will go towards race equipment (e.g. timing mats, tent and course marking stuff) and various trail care tools such as a brush cutter, soil compactor, drill and extra hand tools. This will likely take us a couple of months to organise, procure and document but we're keen to put them to use as quickly as possible. Thanks goes to the QLD Government: Department Justice and Attorney General, Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation and to club secretary, Michael, who wrote and submitted the grant application on behalf of the club (and begrudgingly left out the fat bikes for all members idea). Also thanks to our membership who allow this club to exist and apply for these grants to do the things we all want to do. The initiatives for...

Chicks In the Sticks Race Summary

What a colourful event! There were feathers, tutus, even some strange looking he/shes! Many ladies got into the spirit of the event, including the GoGIRLs (the pink ladies) and dressed up for the occasion. Once we had cheered on the Little chicks in the Sticks, the chicken nuggets and the Chick-a-dees, we assembles for the mass start!

After the race briefing of important points such as “track right’ means stay to the left whilst the person overtakes you on the right (not go right),“stopping” well we can work that one out but remember not to block anyone’s path. A down arrow means a steep descent and more arrows means it’s even steeper with a dismount area! That had some of the roadies worried, who were thinking I thought this was just a ride for fun. Other women were thinking, it’s slower to walk may as well ride! Good on you Helen, that’s the spirit!

Fun it was, but far from a walk in the park.
