About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Vote for us in the Mountain Bikes Direct “Dollars For Dirt” Funding Program

We’re excited to announce that our club has been selected as a recipient of the Mountain Bikes Direct “Dollars For Dirt” Community Funding program. We’re guaranteed to receive $150 from the program, but to secure the top grant ($300) we need your help! Between the 1st and the 25th of this month, if you shop at Mountain Bikes Direct (www.mountainbikesdirect.com.au), you can cast your vote and help decide which of three selected groups should get the $300! You simply shop as normal, and at the order confirmation page (after you checkout) you will have the ability to cast your vote. We’d love for you to spread the word and encourage people to put their vote towards our Club, so that we can secure as many votes as possible and hopefully score the top grant! Thanks for your support, Bushrangers MTB Club Sunshine Coast [caption id="attachment_2973" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Click for more information[/caption] ...

Be Bold for Change – International Women’s Day 2017!

[caption id="attachment_2735" align="alignright" width="300"] Click for more info about IWD2017[/caption] I thought the Bushrangers should say a big hello and a "You go Girl" <bobs head and clicks fingers> to all our female riders - the smarterest and better looking of all the genders! Thanks to the amazing efforts of Susie and the GoGirls there are more ladies in the club than ever and it's truly great, because to borrow a line from the Jerry McGuire movie - "You complete me" (with "me" meaning the club, not me personally because I've already been completed by the lovely Kim - sorry ladies). Interesting read: http://womenwhocycle.com/2017/03/the-role-of-the-bicycle-in-improving-womens-lives/ Interesting quotes: “The bicycle is just as good company as most husbands and, when it gets old and shabby, a woman can dispose of it and get a new one without shocking the entire community.” Ann Strong, Minneapolis Tribune, 1895 ------------------------------ Ned Flanders: “You were bicycling two abreast?” Homer Simpson: “I wish. We were bicycling to a lake.” The Simpsons Michael (Where is Susie? She would be better at this!) Johns Club Secretary...

Pete Bigaila kicks ass at the JetBlack 24hr race

The large calendar fridge magnets as prizes were a bit underwhelming.

Now I don’t know about you but I like to divide my day up into sleep-time and not-sleep-time. The ratio can vary somewhat but I usually get 7-8 hours of sleep each day so I guess I’m a bit of a traditionalist that way and I’m OK with this. However Bushrangers member Pete Bigaila probably looks at this 8 hours of beautiful sleep I have and thinks “Sleep Schmeep – you could be riding your bike!”.

Yup that’s right, Pete likes to ride his bike for the whole 24 hours, it’s his thing. He trains for these races by doing daily 100km rides and he even does a few of these at 2am in the morning because hey, why not! It’s not like he should be in bed or anything.

Bushrangers Ride the Redback

Last month was a 4 day, multi-stage race called The Redback and it's held in lovely sunny Alice Springs NT. This is a place where 'snake bite' punctures could literally be caused by a snake bite! The event has 6 different stages: Stage 1 - Central Communications 40km Cross Country Race Stage 2 - Rapid Ascent 300m ANZAC Hill Climb Stage 3 - Endura 22km Individual Time Trial Stage 4 - Cyclecover 22km Night Race Stage 5 - Lasseters Hotel 50km Cross Country Race Stage 6 - Chifley Alice Springs Resort 45km Cross Country Race [caption id="attachment_1548" align="alignright" width="300"] Graeme finishing stage 5[/caption] There were over 130 riders and our own Rod Brannock and Graeme Hall went over there and did pretty bloody well with Rod getting 1st in his category and Graeme getting 14th in his. For more details and results for each stage check out the website at http://www.rapidascent.com.au/theredback/ Nice work guys!  ...
