Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.
We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

[caption id="attachment_6890" align="alignright" width="300"] We get positive feedback about the quality of training - and not just from Geoff.[/caption]
We are squeezing in some more training clinics before the end of the year. So on the 15/16th of December we've organised Geoff from HitBikes to run some skills training for body positioning and new braking techniques clinics.
These will be small 5-person classes about 90min long and will teach you the importance of body positioning on a bike such as the "attack position" and the new braking technique clinics will teach the importance of...
So last week we had a Strength and Mobility clinic put on by Levi at 547 Sports Performance.
To make sure it was relevant for our bike riding he asked us where it hurt when we ride so things like wrists, back, knees, pride etc.
He then explained why it hurt and took us through a series of exercises to stretch and strengthen our bodies. These stretches done regularly help provide pain-free riding and increase our endurance and strength. It was a good night full of interesting and useful information… even with all the physical pain, sobbing and cries of agony. :o)
Hello everyone,
[caption id="attachment_7052" align="alignright" width="300"] Awwwww yeah!![/caption]
Sonja has come up with a lovely idea of having our end of year party eating 'endless' pizza at a new brewery at near Tanawha. So I'm assuming it's an industrial conveyor belt process funneling directly into our mouths.
The Glasshouse Brewery lads are finishing off their build and will be ready to host us at 4.30pm Saturday the 8th of December. The address is 330 Mons Road, Tanawha (i.e. the Kunara organic markets - so you can buy some expensive rolled oats while you're there).
Cost will be $20 each if you want the pizza and partners are welcome (as long as they talk about how awesome bikes are etc).

Hello Folks!
So I've been chatting to people about our next AGM (in 4 months) and I'm hearing things like "No way I could do what you guys do! You guys did so much and are sooo handsome and smart, and witty etc". And that's mostly true BUT most of that work was optional and not required to run the club, if anything we bit off way too much.
Now graphs make everything awesome so I made up this sexy RASIC chart (hello ladies!). It shows the essential tasks that need to be done to keep the club ticking over and what position should do it and also what position can back them up.

Now this is just a guide and can be tweaked and adjusted as the new committee sees fit or if changes occurred e.g. adding a Vice President or Social Coordinator.
So if a committee member wants to do more (like a training clinic,...
Hey everyone,
So each month we do a "community" ride where we offer a easier ride for people who want to come along and try MTB out. This month we went to ride in the beautiful Mapleton Forest.
The advanced group left from the township and did around 30km all through the forest with a lot more climbing while the easy group left from the Mapleton Day Use Area and rode the 18km out to the Oakey Creek Lookout and back. The forecasted high temperatures held off until later in the day so it ended up being a rather pleasant ride indeed.
Someone in the advanced group forgot their hydration pack at the lookout so when the easy group arrived we wondered what this suspicious bag was. After a vigorous shake it was deemed safe and obviously not a bomb so we went through it and managed to track down it's owner (and eat all the muesli bars) - Hoorah!
Afterwards we had coffee...

So Prez Ben worked out a route for last Sunday's ride knowing that it was going to be a hot day. So he tried to keep it a bit shorter, mostly under the trees and limit any big climbs, I'm glad he did because by 8am the temperature was soaring.
We started in Cooroy opposite the library then worked our way around to the Lake Macdonald spillway. Had a quick break and refilled out water bottles then we did a fun little bonus bit recommended by Toby. We had to backtrack in places because the creek was still high but we made it back to Cooroy for coffee after about 32km.
Check out the video below and thanks for the ride folks. See you next week.

We received the 2018 Queensland Government Award for Outdoor Places and Spaces award for our efforts on the Parklands MTB Trails Project.
We were up against three other extremely good projects so our winning of this award was definitely a surprise. The panel had a difficult time sorting all the nominations down to four finalist and then a painstaking effort to pick a winner.
This award isn't only for the club committee though. It's also for:
all the volunteers who came along to the trail care days and helped,
the Trailworx crew,
all the people at QPWS SEQ Region - especially Ranger Eugene Craddock and Pricipal Ranger Stephen Price
All the local businesses, clubs and schools who gave us letters of support
Sunshine Coast Regional Council for proving a grant and for Trails Activation Officer Kurt Martin's help
Queensland Government Department Housing and Public Works (Sport and Recreation) for providing a grant and for Kathy Rodgers help,
and to all our members...
For something as seemingly simple as moving a bit of dirt, trail-care is an extremely hot topic and everyone has a different viewpoint and strong opinions. I've heard countless complaints such as:
[caption id="attachment_7018" align="alignright" width="300"] Kangarooiceus Judgmenticus[/caption]
"There isn't enough trail care days"
"Your trail care days are on the wrong day/time"
"Trail care days have too many (or too few) people show up"
"The trails are being dumbed down/made harder"
"Illegal trails, links, shortcuts are being built"
"No signage and the maps are wrong"
"The kangaroos are silently judging my Taser runs"
and many many more.
So yeah, it's a complex issue and there probably isn't a silver bullet.
Introducing ADOPT-A-TRAIL!
This idea has been thrown around for awhile now and it's used elsewhere but it hasn't gained much traction yet due to our workload not giving us enough time to push it.
Basically the idea is that all the trails in Parklands are put up for grabs and people (or maybe teams...
