About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Kenilworth/Conondale Ride Summary

Kenilworth/Conondale Ride Summary

What a glorious time of year to be tackling the challenging yet scenic rides. It has been a while since the club has been out in the Kenilworth/Conondale area and a lot has changed with the Charlie Moreland day use/camp ground area but the route remains the same – beautiful with awesome views.

Since the traditional meeting place is the Little Yabba Creek rest area just after the bridge most of us stopped there until 7:30a before driving over to the Charlie Moreland Day Use Area and getting ready to ride off. At 8am while the temperature was still brisk we began the 3km/300m ride up the arduous Sunday Creek Road. After a few brief stops along the climb to take in the scenic panoramas of the valleys we found ourselves at the beginning of the route down to Summer Falls. At this point the group was split into two – those who wanted a shorter ride went straight down to the falls and those who wanted a longer ride went on down Sunday Creek Road to circle back around to the falls via an alternate route adding another 10km.

The falls are great to visit and because it was still a bit cold we sunned ourselves on the rocks lizard style. If it wasn’t so cold it would be a great opportunity to go for a swim – maybe towards the end of summer would be a better time to ride up again. Migrating back to Sunday Creek Road we returned to the cars via the Mt Allan Fire Tower which we found was a bit of a pinchy climb and steep decent back to the camp ground so make sure your brake pads are good and to let them cool off every kilometre or so.

Esky was grabbed out and the fancy new gas BBQs heated up for the snags. After a bit we realised that Steve was taking a fair bit longer than anticipated to come back – a few set off in their cars to go find him. It turned out that he ended up getting lost and heading down to the Booloumba Creek Camp Grounds.

So in the end it was a great day had by all, be it a rather longer day for Steve.
