About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Trail Care Parklands – 18/1/2020

Another great turn out for the Parklands Trail care day on Saturday 18/1/2020. Nice to have some decent rain the night before helping us identify the low puddle spots and drainage needs. The focus was on the Rookie road track in to the skills/hub area with repairs made to the sticky berm through the first creek, sand stone blocks were laid in the larger eroded channels topped up with road base kindly supplied by QPWS who are always happy to assist the Bushrangers club. Additional works are planned to stabilise existing sandstone crossing that have eroded underneath. A big shout out to new people who attended that aren’t part of a specific club but ride in parklands, your generosity and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated “Maximum Kudos”, looking forward to seeing you all again. The Adopt a Trail maintenance scheme is ready to launch so keep an eye out for upcoming details if you would like to be part of an ongoing trail maintenance...

Ride Report 15/12/19 Gympie “Victory Heights’’ Strava Spaghetti

The lure of flowy trails, easy double jumps, smooth burms, plus the promise of aromatic coffee and food was enough to attract an eclectic group of riders on a wide range of bikes including single speed Steel hard tail, Dual suspension alloy and carbon framed steeds with a mix of suspension travel, ebikes new and old. With an early start to beat the heat the faster group blasted off into the twisty trails with the intention of riding every trail in the park lead by Rod who always sets a cracking consistent pace. Eagerly awaiting take off The tracks while dry hold up incredibly well with reasonable grip provided you don’t get too game and load the front wheel up. Toby lead the “less air” group through the maze of decimal numbered tracks giving new members some challengers and skills to be honed in future.  Only a couple of lie down moments with no injuries sustained. As the group moved...

Parkies Ride Report… (luckily) without Hangovers

Yesterdays Parklands Post Xmas Party Ride started with a solid turn out of riders including new member Jeremy and visitor Grant from North Brisbane, great to see such enthusiasm early on a Sunday Morning. The whole crew was quite fresh considering the jelly shots at the party seemed 9.5 parts vodka and 0.5 part jelly (just enough jelly to give the vodka some colour)...

MTBA Members Vote to Amalgamate with AusCycling

If you didn't know, the MTBA was looking to amalgamate with AusCycling - a new organisation set up to consolidate all sporting discipline to the one single entity. Mountain biking, cycling and bmx will be covered with the one membership. On 30 November 89% of members voted in support of the change. You can read about it over here on the MTBA website. It is expected to bring a raft of benefits - consolidating insurance and for those that participate in multiple disciplines, then you'll only need one membership. Don't expect to see anything immediate, except our club jerseys will have a new logo so keep an eye out for a promo coming soon for a cheap one :-) In the meantime, keep riding! ...

Launching Summer at Wooroi – with new ride time and a new President!

What a turn-out, with 22 at Wooroi for the first ride of the summer. The earlier start time (trialling 6.30am for summer) didn’t seem to worry anyone, although Linden did seem a bit rough early - bad bottle apparently (could have happened to anyone!)… John “the only dude who woo-hooo’s on the flat trails” Searston took off with the fast-ish group. And after zig-zagging up, down and through Wooroi, he went rogue and took us over through the forest and up the Demoraliser track.  Straight up the steepest hill within cooee on a fire road. And demoralise us it did, although Miles “mono” Porteous (aka The President) wasn’t fazed as he pulled off this manoeuvre at the top… The forest out here really is beautiful and worth a visit, with a few very gnarly and steep down trails it was great fun. Toby lead the rest of us to enjoy the great trails Wooroi offers. Riding bloodwood proved a challenge for our newest member with a...

Parklands trail care event

Hello All. I am happy to announce that we will be having a trail care afternoon on Saturday the 6th of July from 1 pm (meet at the Radar hill road car park). We will also attend to some of the drainage issues as we make our way around. Will post more details soon but any help will be most appreciated. Will Newton ...

Coolum to Tewantin ride report

Here is Toby's ride report from Facebook. Coolum to Wooroi return was today's ride. But before the ride even started I popped into Coolum to wish four Bushranger MTB women good luck as they had left their bikes at home and were about to start the 35 km walk in aid of mitochondrial disease. Hope you all have fun Tania, Amanda, Emma and Wil. So 11 riders set off but not long in Dennis had mechanical woes and had to call it. Up through Peregian Beach and across to Murdering Creek through to Weyba road and out at the RSPCA unit. We had a couple of requests to keep the pace at 24km/hr - no idea why. Into Wooroi we went and up Wallaby then down to carpark. Tried to find a bike charger for Terry as he was on two bars. We then went down Bloodwood up Daydream and down Milkmaid. Miles fell in luv with his hardtail again. Heading home Greg (The...

Full moon ride at Paul’s Place

Greetings Bushrangers, This is a heads-up that we are changing the full moon ride on the 19th of June from Ewen Maddock to Trish and Paul Vandeleur's lovely property on Ruwoltds road, Dulong (that's behind Woombye/Nambour). We have all been so privileged to have had access to this beautiful spot in the past and it looks like this will be the last time, so now or never people. Come and thank Paul and Trisha by bringing your lights and appetites to enjoy a full moon spin and BBQ. We may even rustle up some previous committee members for an informal and overdue thanks for all the good times. Hope to see y'all there on the west side of town. Check the calendar for more details. Will ...
