About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Sunshine Coast Bike Week

Coming up shortly is the annual Sunshine Coast Bike Week beginning September 24th and finishing October 2nd. There are a number of different rides and events catering for all ages and abilities. Social pathway rides, children's courses and commuter cycling training. The Cyclefest will be hosting races including the king of the mountain ride (Palmwoods Montville Rd) and the 100km Grand Fondo. We have our usual calendar rides advertised as part of the cycle week activities so expect to see a few new faces. If you register for any of the events/rides then you go in the draw to win some bike shop vouchers. Also don't forget that Ride2Work Day is on Wednesday October 12th and I expect our Strava club to be full of commutes that day. There will be complimentary breakfasts and coffee at the following locations (you have to ride there!): Cotton Tree Park, Cotton Tree Esplanade Bill Venardos Park, Omrah Avenue Caloundra Park opposite Sunshine Coast University Hospital along Braggs Street...

Welcome to Hit Bikes!

Hey there everyone, This Sunday's Sugarbag ride will be the next "Support your local bike shop" ride and Caloundra local Dean from his brand new shop Hit Bikes is coming to ride with us. He sells Mondraker and Kona bikes and judging from his Facebook pics we may be seeing a pretty swish Mondraker on Sunday. The ride starts at the Caloundra Aquatic Centre (off Arthur St) at 6.45am (ride off at 7am). Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hitbikes/...

Wamuran ride summary – 17/09/2016

[caption id="attachment_1654" align="alignright" width="300"] Map does not show the great coffee shop we found across the road near the mechanic shop[/caption] Cr Adrian Raedel at the Moreton Bay Regional Council asked us to help with a mountain bike ride from Wamuran for their Hinterland Cyclefest. 24 of us meet up at the park near Atwood Street and by 8am we were ready to go. We had a varied group of riders with different levels of skills and fitness, some roadies and even a couple of kids (whose infinite energy reserves were rather intimidating). There were 2 rides on offer with a 20km out and back on the old rail line and a 40km loop. Everyone chose the 20km so Terry took everyone as a group but Brad took some of the keener riders on some advanced "gnarly" diversions. We only had a couple of crashes (both on a particularly hairy descent that the gnarly group had a crack at) and there was a busted chain (quickly fixed...

18/09/2016 Wooroi Ride Summary

Even with the rain the night before there wasn't a puddle in sight at Wooroi which is known for its fast draining sandy soils. 25 of us gathered at the carpark and set of just after 7am with Toby taking the lead. Starting along Birdwing, hopping onto Glider (Indy) and then picking our way up Keelback (Spectator) so we can cruise along the ridge and down Snake. Then hopping off Snake onto Bloodwood and back onto Glider (Indy) and then down Froglet (Secrets) to the carpark. From here we went up Crosscut and down Milkmaid onto Glossy before finishing up with Turn 10 (no one braved the gap jump). All up about 23km on hero dirt. The rain had only just started again when we got back to the cars so the timing couldn't have been better. Finishing up with the usual coffee stop at Cafe Doonan. Wooroi is riding great after all the works - definitely worth a visit. ...

Starting from Wamuran (Google Maps Link) and riding along the old rail trail for a while before splitting into two groups - people looking for a longer ride can continue on into the Beerburrum Forests and the people after a easier and shorter ride can head back to the starting point. These rides are open to the public just like our community rides so expect to see some new faces and please help out where possible. There's a BBQ planned for lunchtime so if riding somewhere new isn't enough to get you out of bed on a Saturday morning then perhaps a free snag on a bit of white bread will lure you down. Parklands Ride Summary – 11/09/2016

This ride summary was brought to you by the new 2016 Bushrangers Members Survey. Check your emails and complete it today and the club President will wash your bike!* So our regular "Parkies" ride was a smaller affair due to the music festival, Cycle Epic and some people are just scared of mud I guess (not to mention the nasty, rooty, rocky, slippery, steepy mess that is the glorious Parklands!). [caption id="attachment_1593" align="alignright" width="300"] Sonja's new XC beast!![/caption] Sunday morning ended up being lovely and sunny and even a smidgen humid in places. While we got ready Alf shuffled about trying to decide whether he wore the bike shoes today or give us mortals a chance to keep up by wearing the crocs - unfortunately he chose the bike shoes. Suddenly all of us felt a 'presence' (for lack of a better word), we turned and saw Dave and Sonja driving towards us but there seemed to be a bright heavenly glow beaming out from...

2016 Member Survey is Live!

Hello Bushrangers, I've just emailed all our members with the link to the new and improved 2016 survey. Even though the 2015 survey was not completed by everyone, the results were still instrumental in this year's growth and initiatives. So this year we've tried to make it smaller and only asked questions we needed to. So please complete this survey because if the grants come in we need to make sure we spend it on the right things. Thanks everyone!...
