About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Plantation Closure Due to Extreme Weather Event

Please note that the Beerburrum forestry areas will be closed for public access this weekend due to a possible extreme weather event. HQ Plantations have kindly asked for us to respect the closure: Please be aware we have closed public access to forest plantations due to expected extreme heavy rainfall events being forecast for the south east Queensland over the next few days. The affected plantation areas include the Beerburrum,  Fraser Coast, Elliott River, Mary Valley, Jimna, Yarraman, Pechey-Esk and Passchendaele areas. The plantations will be closed to all access unless specifically approved over the weekend 4 and 5 June 2016. Due to the localised and heavy nature of rainfall events many of the plantation roads and tracks may be subject to flooding and may be damaged creating a serious risk to people attempting to use them. The potential for rapid rises of streams and waterways from heavy rainfall in the plantation areas is high increasing the risk to life and property. HQPlantations  is appealing...

29/05/2016 – Pomona-Cooran Ride Summary

Hey there ‘rangers,

14 of us showed up to Pomona at 7am and it was pretty cold so I’m thinking we switch over to 7.30am start times during these cooler months, so keep an eye out for the update.

We followed our ride leaders Terry and Al to Cooran and beyond. Despite the cold weather we warmed up real good with a prompt hill climb and then a few more afterwards just to make sure. The loose rocky climb up from Ferguson road was particularly good to get the heart thumping.

Trail care went well on Saturday afternoon with the top part of Phoenix track being snazzed up and the Roo Valley/Meadows link track from last week being finished off. I think Phoenix is still being worked on this week again so its closed to let the digger do its thing and for the new features to settle in. Keep an eye on the SCTA Facebook for more details....

22/05/2016 Ringtail Forest Ride Summary

This morning was 17°C and overcast when eleven of us met at Read Park, Tewantin. We set out along McKinnon Drive towards the Tewantin National Park where we took 'Harry's Shortcut' and the McKinnon Drive single track to Old Tewantin Road. The route was one used by Richard Poyner in Tewantin the week before and looked good on the map so we gave it a go. A gradual climb up to the north of Lake Macdonald and then along the bitumen to the Old Coach trail (Alternate 4) and onto forestry roads (and some of the steepest climbs of the ride) to the top of the old Noosa Enduro downhill track which has lasted through the years but it starting to suffer a bit thanks to trail bikes.  At this point we began our trip back using park/forestry roads until we hopped back onto McKinnon Dr but taking a short cut via the suburbs to Lake Cooroibah Road and then the paths...
