About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

The ride starts at Aitkenson Road West at 6.45am, ride off at 7am (you might want to get there a bit earlier to check out the bikes so we can still meet the ride off time). Parklands Ride Summary – 09/10/2016

Hello everyone, [caption id="attachment_1775" align="alignright" width="300"] Great turn-out![/caption] Sunday's Parklands ride had a great turn out with the regular Bushrangers, some new guys, some CORCA boys, the Crankworx Cyclery crew and Al the Rocky Mountain rep. Massive turn out! This ride was this month's "Invite a bike shop" ride and Daniel from Crankworx Cyclery came to say g'day, along with Al the local Rocky Mountain bike rep. They both brought along some nice demo bikes which John, Nick and Rod got to take around Parklands. We broke into two groups with the "gung-ho" group leaving first and the "not so gung-ho" leaving afterwards taking things a bit slower. Both groups following a clockwise route around the park so we all finished the ride with a descent down Ho-Chi-Ho. Ben and I lead the 2nd group and took them up Road Rage, then onto Terry's track, through Cancer Tree over to the east side of the park. This is where all my whinging about climbing trails finally paid off...

Crankworx Cyclery is coming to Parklands

[caption id="attachment_1732" align="alignright" width="300"] Click for website[/caption] Hey there everyone, This Sunday’s Parklands ride will be the next “Support your local bike shop” ride and Daniel from Crankworx Cyclery is coming to ride with us (the local Rocky Mountain rep might be coming along as well). They are a new Specialized/Rocky Mountain dealer in Caloundra so maybe we'll see a new plus-tyred Stumpjumper or Pipeline. The ride starts at Radar Hill Road carpark at 6.45am (ride off at 7am). Depending on numbers we'll have two groups and coffee afterwards (probably at Bli Bli Bakery). Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/crankworxcyclery/ #crankworxcyclery  ...

Sugarbag Ride Summary – 25/09/2016

[caption id="attachment_1666" align="alignright" width="300"] Click for more info[/caption] 14 riders showed up at the aquatic centre in Caloundra on Sunday morning. In addition to the regular crew we had a new rider, Sirrob, previous member Pete and Dean from Hit Bikes come along (Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hitbikes/). There was a particularly nasty magpie near the carpark who attacked Toby and Neil as they rode to meet us, it attacked Sirrob as he just stood there waiting and I think it even called me fat. We rode through Ben Bennett park and onto the Sugarbag trails. I was looking forward to checking out the new Syrup trail that Trailworx had worked on recently. Terry and Tania went off and did their own thing but the rest of us stuck together and we went through the regular trails like Sugar and Honeycomb and we did the new Syrup trail a few times too. Syrup is a bit loose on the berms at the moment but it's still pretty fun. After the trails Pete and Dean said...

Welcome to Hit Bikes!

Hey there everyone, This Sunday's Sugarbag ride will be the next "Support your local bike shop" ride and Caloundra local Dean from his brand new shop Hit Bikes is coming to ride with us. He sells Mondraker and Kona bikes and judging from his Facebook pics we may be seeing a pretty swish Mondraker on Sunday. The ride starts at the Caloundra Aquatic Centre (off Arthur St) at 6.45am (ride off at 7am). Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hitbikes/...

Yandina/Cooloolabin Ride Summary

It was a glorious day to ride to Point Glorious. A ride featuring Jez from Venture Cycles, Mal from the Sunshine Coast Cycling Club, and Lester from the Noosa Trailblazers and a few other new faces as well – thanks for coming guys I hope you enjoyed yourself. Hello to past member Jason Daw who stopped for a quick chat as well.

Terry about to show us his breakdancing moves

All up there were 21 of us at the Cooloolabin Dam Trail Head (with 11 starting from Yandina to tackle the Bottle and Glass Road climb). To get a few more kms Gavin rode in from Buderim and Brad rode in from Mapleton.

Yandina was 5°C and that tends to make hopping out of the warm car and stripping down to a thin layer of lycra not very fun, but #cyclinglife and #yolo and all that. “Why were people wearing their lycra on the outside today?” I hear you ask.  Today was the day that Ben, Gavin, Lester and Murray were going to “groadie” (gravel roadie) it up to the Pt Glorious lookout to show us all what a gravel/CX bike can do! Although they had to tentatively negotiate the descents they made up for it with speed on the flats and hills.

Welcome to Venture Cycles!

[caption id="attachment_1437" align="alignright" width="300"] Click here for website[/caption] Hey there everyone, This Sunday's Yandina/Cooloolabin ride will be the first "Support your local bike shop" ride (it really needs a better name). Venture Cycles will be riding with us and we aren't sure what cool bike they will be bringing along so come along to find out and have a chat to the guys from Noosaville. This ride will be both a MTB ride and also a "gravel grinder" ride for people wanting to bring their CX or Gravel bikes.  I'm keen to see how these modified road bikes perform around Cooloolabin Dam. Remember there is two start points this ride. Yandina at 7.15am (grade 4 - 40km) or Cooloolabin dam at 8am (grade 3 - 20km). Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/venturecycle/...
