About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Parklands Dash Experiment Summary

Parklands DashFirstly a big thanks to all the riders and volunteers who came today I’m glad you all had a good time and truly appreciate the feedback I got from everyone.

We had 15 riders from right across the coast (Bushrangers, CORCA, Trailblazers, Sunshine Orienteers and a couple of privateers). We also had 7 volunteers which was perfect. The volunteers were briefed and sent off to the checkpoints with coloured pens and task instructions in hand. The riders were all registered in short order and the ride briefing and race start happened dead on time. Quinton, Will and Peter came flying into the finish area just after 30min. Nice work everyone!

Plantation Closure Due to Extreme Weather Event

Please note that the Beerburrum forestry areas will be closed for public access this weekend due to a possible extreme weather event. HQ Plantations have kindly asked for us to respect the closure: Please be aware we have closed public access to forest plantations due to expected extreme heavy rainfall events being forecast for the south east Queensland over the next few days. The affected plantation areas include the Beerburrum,  Fraser Coast, Elliott River, Mary Valley, Jimna, Yarraman, Pechey-Esk and Passchendaele areas. The plantations will be closed to all access unless specifically approved over the weekend 4 and 5 June 2016. Due to the localised and heavy nature of rainfall events many of the plantation roads and tracks may be subject to flooding and may be damaged creating a serious risk to people attempting to use them. The potential for rapid rises of streams and waterways from heavy rainfall in the plantation areas is high increasing the risk to life and property. HQPlantations  is appealing...

Parklands Map

Hello folks, Here is the Parklands map that is going up on the info boards throughout the park. It gives you a good guide showing how the numbered circuits work with the trail names. [caption id="attachment_924" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Click to download PDF[/caption]  ...

“Club Only” Members Update – (NERD TALK ALERT)

Hi Folks, A few people have been asking about "club only" membership (and how come they don't get the awesome SMS/Email notifications). So I thought I'd provide an update. What is a club only membership? Club Only membership is available to those who already hold membership through another club that insures them for mountain biking activities. These clubs are typically affiliated with Mountain Biking Australia (MTBA) and Cycling Australia (CA). However at the moment it's an administratively intensive task of providing your details to us via email and then organising a bank transfer/direct debit through your bank, depositing it directly into our account, or giving money to a committee member who then deposits it on your behalf. Then we need to verify your details, check that the deposit went through, and then manually update the list. That sounds arduous and fraught with error! Indeed it does! But I have been madly tapping away on multiple keyboards and screens at the same time (while wailing on a guitar) trying to revamp the notification code to include...

Club Newsletter

Hi Folks, The club newsletter (hosted by MailChimp) has been infrequently used to send out information about special events. This is going to change with the inclusion of a weekly summary of posts from this website. The weekly newsletter will go out on Wednesday mornings. You can subscribe by filling out this form and unsubscribe by using the links at the bottom of the email. Please note the ride notification emails/sms messages are from a different system and only sent to members. See you on the trails!  ...

Why Sunshine Coast MTB clubs need the SCTA and why they need us

After a really positive meeting on Saturday I wanted to write this letter to start a conversation across all clubs and riders about getting world class trails on the Sunshine coast and helping the SCTA to do it. Please share it around to the other clubs and riders and let's start talking about how it can be done right and get all the information out there. Thanks, Michael Johns [google-drive-embed url="https://drive.google.com/a/bushrangers.org/file/d/0B2-dM9NFP78vNXFXOHAwWjQ3aGM/preview?usp=drivesdk" title="WhyweneedtheSunshineCoastTrailsAllianceSCTA.pdf" icon="https://ssl.gstatic.com/docs/doclist/images/icon_12_pdf_list.png" width="100%" height="400" style="embed"]...

2016 Sunshine Series Starting Soon

QLD Mountainbike  will be kicking off their 2016 cross-country race series at Underwood Park, Rochedale on the 17th April. This year they are introducing the Veteran Women category (age 30-39) and will continue with the Sports category that caters to anyone who wants to have a go. The six well organised events are each hosted at a different location around SEQ and you can attend as many as you wish. I have added them into our club calendar (no notifications though, you'll need to come back and check). To register for the upcoming race or the series go to: https://online.mtba.asn.au/ERegister.aspx?E=3046     We invite members who attend any mountain bike race to send in your results for inclusion in a weekly summary post.  ...

New Bushrangers banner has arrived

The old banner was missing in action for awhile and now it's showing its age with the ink peeling off in places. A new banner was quickly designed and printed up and looks pretty bloody good (even if I do say so myself)! The timing is great as we will have it up at the 24hr ride this weekend and the Trex ride next weekend. We also have a booth at the upcoming Heart Week expo. GO BUSHRANGERS!...
