About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Wide Bay XCEN Series – Race 2 Results

A few of us raced at the Toogoom trails (Fraser Coast) in round 2 of the Wide Bay 3HR XCEN series. By the sounds of it it was a great race that attracted local media attention. Lots of photos available on the Fraser Coast's Chronicle's website. Congratulations goes to the following members for their efforts: Royce Vandeleur came 2nd overall, 2nd in category, Corey Chimes 7th overall, 1st in category, Peter Bigaila came 10th overall, 5th in category, and Donna Bigaila came 37th overall, and 3rd in category. Thanks for organising and hosting a great event Fraser Coast MTB club! We love riding Toogoom. Full results available >here<....

2016 Single Speed World Championships

Many in the club are pleased that the 2016 Single Speed World Championships (SSWC) will be hosted in Woodend, Victoria between October 21 and 23. ‪#‎SSWC2016downunder‬ The town was literally named “wood end” because it is located where the Black Forest ends. At Woodend, prospectors en route to the goldfields in the 1850-60s could finally feel safe from bushrangers who used to hide in ambush in the black woods. No longer will these single speed prospectors feel safe from bushrangers as we will be drinking them under every table and ambushing them on the tracks. Who will be our Mad Dan Morgan? This years event presents a carnival (or carni-velo) theme with the expectation that participants will be dressing up as their favourite carnival character. Those with coulrophobia may wish to reconsider. At some point during the beer drinking there will be a mountain bike race where the only restrictions are a single gear and functional brakes. The race course takes you over the single tracks throughout the nearby Wombat State Forest. Registration for the...

2016 Wide Bay MTB Race Series

Fast approaching with the first race of the series on the 29th of May at Bundaberg - Cordalba (Promisedland Trails) - the Wide Bay Cross Country Endurance race series entails three races in Bundaberg, Fraser Coast (Toogoom, 3rd of July) and Gympie (Corella, 21st August). A few of us are showing interest in attending at least one of these races and I'm pretty keen to do all three this year. It would be great to see us support our neighbour clubs in the north and keep this series alive. If you would like to test these trails before signing up don't forget that we're having a camping trip up that way this weekend and will be riding Promisedland and Toogoom trails. Event Series facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WideBayMTB Big thanks to MTB Bundaberg Inc, Fraser Coast MTB Club Inc and Gympie Bike Riders MTB Club Inc for organising. Tre-X Off-Road Triathlon Results

Couldn't ask for better conditions for racing at the Ewen Maddock Dam Camp - the rain leading up to the weekends event helped freshen up the water, soak the off-road running circuit and settle the dust on the MTB course. The water temperature was a pleasant 23°C for the beginning swim leg at 8:30am, 400m for the short, 1500m for the long. and was over in no time at all with most of the competitors out of the water within 30min. The mountain bike course was a slight variation to the Ferny Forest loop with some of the access roads used as passing areas and to get the riders back to the finish line for either another lap (3 laps for long course) or to go back into transition for the run. The running circuit took the runners all over the place and included ankle deep water for the most part and the 'tar pit' of thick mud to make things...

A Fantastic Effort at the 2016 Merida 24hr

It was a brilliant weekend at the Spicers Hiddenvale Resort in Grandchester QLD. Partly cloudy with temperatures on the warm side of 30 The Merida 24hr (and 4hr) race began at noon with a mass start of over 500 participants, music and the countdown blaring, and smoke machines squirting dry ice vapour over the starting line. The following 24hrs (or 4hrs) would become a combination of endurance and concentration as there were quite a few sketchy parts of the course that caused damage to both bikes and riders. After a short first lap the the race was on in earnest with the 4hr riders turning up the pressure and 24hr riders settling in for the long haul. Fine bull dust was the theme of the course with riders coming out covered head to tyre after only a few laps. While there was less elevation that previous years the new course made up for it by adding various technical challenges to each climb and sweeping descents with features...

New Bushrangers banner has arrived

The old banner was missing in action for awhile and now it's showing its age with the ink peeling off in places. A new banner was quickly designed and printed up and looks pretty bloody good (even if I do say so myself)! The timing is great as we will have it up at the 24hr ride this weekend and the Trex ride next weekend. We also have a booth at the upcoming Heart Week expo. GO BUSHRANGERS!...
