About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Heart Week Expo Summary

On Saturday (30th April 2016) the Sunshine Coast Council hosted a Heart Week Expo at the Lake Kawana Community Centre. We were invited to provide an avenue for people to take on a more active lifestyle to ward off potential heart related illness. Realistically we were more of a side exhibit however we did garner good interest from the community and we emphasized that we were promoting the trail networks as much as the mountain biking. We let people know about the great walking and mountain biking trails around the area and encouraged people to go and see for themselves. Keen riders were taking turns on the mobile pump track that Kurt from the council organised and while it was looking a bit wet and neglected at the start it quickly became popular once the track dried out. I even loaned my bike to a few kids that wanted a turn (they understandably didn't want Michael's fatbike). The track was provided by a local company so...

ROAD TRIP! Trail Care Learning Day at Gap Creek

We are going to be doing some...

New Bushrangers banner has arrived

The old banner was missing in action for awhile and now it's showing its age with the ink peeling off in places. A new banner was quickly designed and printed up and looks pretty bloody good (even if I do say so myself)! The timing is great as we will have it up at the 24hr ride this weekend and the Trex ride next weekend. We also have a booth at the upcoming Heart Week expo. GO BUSHRANGERS!...

20/03/2016 – Mapleton community ride summary

Well what a great ride today was! John was ride leader today and rumour had it that he was going to mix things up a bit. Now on the few rides I've been on where John says this it usually meant we were up for a whole lot of climbing and I'd more than likely be saying words similar to "goshdarnit" and  "I think I'm a little bit pooped". But my fears were totally unwarranted because the ride ended up being pretty awesome and just the right amount of challenging. Initial ride briefing was loud and clear, the trails chosen were a good mix of climbing, flow and technical and the ride was smoothly adapted where needed to account for the varying fitness levels of the group. It was big group of 28 today and after riding together from the Mapleton township through some beautiful trails we arrived at the Mapleton Day Use Area where we split up into a "Gung Ho" group and a "Moderate" group. The gung ho group shot...

Help Janine defend her World Title!

Janine Jungfels played an instrumental part of our Women's Week activities that were successfully organised and coordinated by our Women's Advocate, Susie Hume, and our Secretary, Julie Pearson, and subsidised by us, Bushrangers MTB Club Sunshine Coast. Since we like to support our local athletes and would love to see Janine back for more activities in future we would like to ask everyone to help her defend her hard earned title in Mountain Bike Trials riding by contributing to her 'Go Fund Me' campaign....

Go G.I.R.L News

Saturday’s Beginner ride on the 24/02/2016 had 14 riders take off from Ewan Maddock car park and within minutes one rider was sure that they had seen a platypus! We continued riding around the dam taking in the sights and stopping for the odd photo. Most ladies were well and trully ready for a coffee and a snack once we arrived at Buck’s Bakery in Landsborugh. After refreshments, a highlight was definitely going through Dalarcha N.P. and riding through the old tunnel to Kenny’s at Mooloolah. It was at this point, some of the ladies had to dig deep. The SAG wagon was called for one lady who made a promised to herself to get on her bike more often . It was the first time her legs had peddled in a very long time. So she did exceptionally well getting that far. With only a few kilometres to go, one bike sadly didn’t make it. Our support mechanic,...

Rookie Ride update

Had a good ride on Saturday with Dave and Jason showing up to have another crack at Parklands and Tim coming to check it out for the first time. Ben and I took them through Terry's novice track and the Ho Chi ho loop and we spoke about gear choice, braking, body position, picking lines and tried a few log rollovers. No dedicated rookie ride on this weekend but you are welcome to come along to the Social ride at Ewan Maddock dam (Glenview) on Sunday. Check the calendar for the details....
