About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

Just getting into Mountain Biking? Try the Ferny Forest trails

Ferny Forest is a 10km loop track that is great for all riders but is especially good for new riders to build confidence and their fitness. The trail is well marked and goes through some beautiful forest and along the edge of the Ewan Maddock Dam. You can either park in the carpark opposite the Big Cart Track or there is another carpark near the real estate agent towards the Mooloolah turn-off. There is more information in the "Where to ride" section here. From the latest SEQ Water update email. Parklands MTB Trail Project Update

This afternoon I submitted our application for the Sunshine Coast Regional Council (SCRC) Community Grants – “Major Grants – Community Facilities grant”. Completing one of three grant applications we’re working on.

This application is the result of many, many hours of effort and I would like to thank everyone who helped out – including Michael (our secretary), Rob (SCTA), Helen (SCRC Grants Officer), Kurt (SCRC Trails Activation Officer), Eugene (Ranger), Kathy (NSPR Grants Officer) and the local trail building businesses who submitted quotes to us with short notice.

Once again we would like to thank all those who have sent in letters of support – they are extremely useful for demonstrating the support this project has. We still need letters for the state grant so please continue sending them in.

Sugarbag Trails MoU Signing

Starting out as a few tracks snaking throughout a forest nestled between Sugar Bag Road and the Caloundra industrial estate the Sugarbag trail network has steadily grown into what it is today - 12km of tight single track littered with technical features. As the trail network has recently been sanctioned by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the council and the Caloundra Off-Road Cycling Association (CORCA) for the ongoing maintenance and development of these trails has been drafted and will be officially signed on Saturday 6th August at the old council storage yard off Sugar Bag Road, the event will start 8am and will run until 1pm, with the signing at 8:30am. Morning tea, lunch, and drinks will be provided. Take your favourite trail care tool if you would like to lend a hand maintaining the trails. I would like to congratulate CORCA and Kurt Martin (Sunshine Coast Regional Council) for their hard work securing the MoU and the future of the Sugarbag trail network....

Give your trails a tax-deductible donation

The Bush Rangers MTB Club have teamed up with the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) to get a DGR1 status which means all your donations to the club are tax deductible for you. This money will be used to fund the $25k co-contribution amount for upcoming government grants for a skills area, novice loop and flow trails and also for annual trail maintenance and to help put on race events and skills clinics. There is a donate link on www.bushrangers.org or you can just go straight to our ASF donation page at https://asf.org.au/organisation/bushrangers-mountain-bike-club/ Thanks for your generosity and as always stay safe and keep riding!...

Grant update and help required

Hello folks, [caption id="attachment_1171" align="alignright" width="300"] Proposed trail work[/caption] We are moving along nicely with the $100k grant for the next phase of the Parklands upgrade which is a novice trail, skills area and 2 flow trails (all on the highway side of the park) but we need some help with the following points. "Community Engagement" (We need letters of support) The grant applications require us to consult with the relevant community groups, businesses and individuals and get letters of support saying they endorse this Parklands project and why. I've already sent emails to schools, scout groups, Rotary, Sunshine Coast tourism and Airport and the Nambour business alliance asking for their support. So if anyone has any ideas or knows of someone who would write a letter of support then let us know or get them to send the letter to info@bushrangers.org. "Co-contribution" (We need money or material/service donations) The grants require us to co-contribute to the grant so to get the full $100k grant we need to contribute $25k. Contributions...

Phoenix Trail (bottom half) is still closed

Hey folks, I just heard that people are taking down the QPWS "Trail closed" sign and riding on the bottom half of Phoenix. As far as I know the work is still not completed and it's not safe to ride so the signs are back up again. I know it's taking awhile and I would love to tell you how it's progressing but communication seems non-existent unfortunately and I am not sure what is going on. I'll keep chasing it up and once I find out I'll let you know....

Show Holiday Trail Care – Phoenix (V2.0)

When: Friday 1pm (10/06/2016) Where: Atkinson Road, Parklands (top Of Phoenix) Details from SCTA: "If you've had your fill of tractors and fruit pyramids at the Sunshine Coast Show, come along to the Phoenix V2.0 trail polishing event. We've just got some final shaping, trimming and compacting to get the trail open for business. Rakes and McLeod's (rake-hoe) will be the tools of choice but some shovels will be good to pile up soil on the kickers. Without getting ahead of ourselves, but we'll probably need a few bikes to test run the features later in the day. Bring your favorite floppy hats, uncool mowing clothes, gloves, rake, hoe or rake-hoe combo. We'll have a number of hand tools available also. Thanks in advance guys !" https://www.facebook.com/events/654108034739995/...
