About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

29/05/2016 – Pomona-Cooran Ride Summary

Hey there ‘rangers,

14 of us showed up to Pomona at 7am and it was pretty cold so I’m thinking we switch over to 7.30am start times during these cooler months, so keep an eye out for the update.

We followed our ride leaders Terry and Al to Cooran and beyond. Despite the cold weather we warmed up real good with a prompt hill climb and then a few more afterwards just to make sure. The loose rocky climb up from Ferguson road was particularly good to get the heart thumping.

22/05/2016 Ringtail Forest Ride Summary

This morning was 17°C and overcast when eleven of us met at Read Park, Tewantin. We set out along McKinnon Drive towards the Tewantin National Park where we took 'Harry's Shortcut' and the McKinnon Drive single track to Old Tewantin Road. The route was one used by Richard Poyner in Tewantin the week before and looked good on the map so we gave it a go. A gradual climb up to the north of Lake Macdonald and then along the bitumen to the Old Coach trail (Alternate 4) and onto forestry roads (and some of the steepest climbs of the ride) to the top of the old Noosa Enduro downhill track which has lasted through the years but it starting to suffer a bit thanks to trail bikes.  At this point we began our trip back using park/forestry roads until we hopped back onto McKinnon Dr but taking a short cut via the suburbs to Lake Cooroibah Road and then the paths...

18/05/16 Parklands Night Ride Summary – IT SUCKED!

...well it sucked for me but the others had fun. Andrew, Ben, Chad, Royce and myself all rocked up to do the night ride. Chad was there early to do an extra loop and rescued some poor bugger who had gotten lost with no lights and brought him back to the carpark. We explored a new section of track that has a lot of potential, just needs some bridges over the muddy bits and maybe remove the big low-hanging branch that crosses the trail. My ride was cut short because I head-butted that big low-hanging branch that crossed the trail. It hurt a lot and I taught the wildlife some new words similar to "Jeepers!" and "Goshdarnit!" I also discovered yet another sidewall tear when I got home (more new words were said). The other guys went on to finish the ride while I found Toby and Kirsty and went back to the car with them. I guess I was feeling a little bit shook up and...
